How to open a TON Site
A TON Site lives inside the TON network: its domain's
site record points to an ADNL server
reached over RLDP, or to a TON Storage bag.
An ordinary browser cannot resolve .ton names on its own. There are three ways around that.
1. In any browser: the View button
Live TON Sites lists the sites that answer with content of their own, each with a
screenshot. Every live site has a View button: it opens the site through apiton's
gateway (site.apiton.org) in a sandbox on the domain's page — try
foundation.ton. There is nothing to install. The page passes through
apiton's gateway, and the site sees the gateway, not your IP address.
2. A TON proxy on your computer
Install a TON proxy app — Tonutils Proxy, for example. It runs a local
proxy that resolves .ton names and fetches pages over the TON network. Point your browser's proxy
settings at it and type http://<name>.ton/ into the address bar. The requests then go from your
computer over the TON network.
3. A wallet or browser with a TON proxy built in
Some TON wallets and their browser extensions open .ton addresses directly. Support differs
between apps and versions, so look in the settings of the one you use.
apiton.org itself is a TON Site too: with a TON proxy, open http://apiton.ton/.
Before you visit
- TON Sites are third-party content. "Live" means the site answered with a page of its own, not that it is safe.
- Never enter a seed phrase or a private key on a site that
looks like a wallet or an exchange: phishing works on
.tonsites as it does on the ordinary web. - Some sites are never opened. Sites about drugs, weapons, gambling, pornography, fraud and other illegal content are listed by name only: apiton shows no screenshot and no View button for them.
A domain's page shows the state of its site — live, parked or not answering — with the title, the 30-day uptime and the response time; for example foundation.ton. To check a domain's owner, expiry and sale status in Telegram, send its name to @apitonBot. How the list is built is in Live TON Sites: how apiton finds and ranks sites on .ton domains.
