How to check a Telegram username: owner, status and price
A collectible username is an NFT on TON, so three things about it are public: the wallet that owns it, whether it is offered, and at what price. Here is how to read them on apiton.org or in @apitonBot.
1. Open the name
- On apiton.org: go to
apiton.org/username/<name>— lowercase, without@— or type@nameinto the search box at the bottom of any page. - In Telegram: send
@nameto @apitonBot. The card is read from the chain at the moment you ask.
"Not found" means it is not a collectible username: either an ordinary one, set for free in Telegram's settings and kept off the chain, or a name nobody has taken.
2. Read the owner
The owner is a wallet address in the
non-bounceable form UQ…. Two cases change what you see:
- For sale through a sale contract. The NFT sits in the sale contract; apiton shows the seller as the owner.
- On a Fragment auction. The NFT stays in its own contract; the highest bidder becomes the owner only when the auction ends.
The chain does not record which Telegram account uses the name. Open https://t.me/<name> to see
that — the account and the owner wallet can belong to different people.
3. Read the status and the price
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not listed | the NFT exists and is not offered |
| For sale | a fixed price: in a sale contract, or a Fragment listing marked "per fragment.com" |
| On auction | the current bid, the next minimum bid and the end time |
The price comes from the auction inside the NFT, a sale contract or the Fragment page, in that order. A sale contract can be priced in a jetton such as USD₮; the price is then shown in that jetton.
4. Check it live before you pay
Lists come from apiton's catalog and can lag behind the chain; a name's page reads it live when it can, and the bot card always does. apiton does not sell names: a Fragment auction or listing is bought on fragment.com, a name in a sale contract through the marketplace that listed it.
5. Get told when it changes
Tap Watch on the bot card: @apitonBot tells you when the name is listed, sold, re-priced or gets a new bid.
Lists to start from: usernames for sale, username auctions, 4-character usernames.
